Dutch say translator leaked secrets

The murder of Theo van Gogh gets even more sinister:

A Moroccan-born translator with the Dutch secret service leaked documents to Muslim militants, including a group linked with the suspected killer of a noted filmmaker, a Dutch court heard on Monday.

Prosecutors accused Outman Ben Amar, an employee of the AIVD agency, of passing a copy of a monitored conversation to a group associated with Mohammed B., a Dutch Moroccan who is the chief suspect in the November murder of Theo van Gogh.

On the first day of the trial, the court rejected a request for the provisional release of Ben Amar, 34, who was arrested on Sept. 30 and is charged with disclosing secret documents to third parties. The case was adjourned until Jan. 24.

Prosecutor Annemieke Zwaneveld said Ben Amar was also suspected of passing a list of AIVD investigations to a group in the city of Utrecht whose members were arrested on suspicion of possessing explosives possibly intended for an attack.
