Moroccan terrorist arrested in Spain

Police in Spain have arrested a Moroccan man in connection with the Madrid train bombings:

Jaouad el Bouzrouti, 21, was arrested near his home in the Madrid suburb of Fuenlabrada early on Tuesday.

He is thought to have close ties to other key suspects, including the alleged ringleader who blew himself up during a police raid on 3 April.

So far, Spain has jailed 22 people in the investigation.

Several more were arrested and later released for lack of evidence, but are still considered suspects.

Spain's interior ministry said the man was a "close collaborator" of the terror cell's alleged leader Allekama Lamari, an Algerian.

The young Moroccan is also believed to be "directly linked" to another suspect, Yousef Belhadj - arrested in Belgium and whose extradition is sought by Spain - and to two more suspects who fled the scene of the April raid.
