Emotionally disturbed immigrants commit more crime in Denmark

DR Nyheder:

A report by the Danish Prison Services has shown that every fifth emotionally disturbed person sentenced in court is of immigrant background.

The report, the first of its kind, looked at the 1,555 people who, in the 3 years up to the end of 2003, were given court orders to go into treatment rather to prison and revealed that there are 3 times as many emotionally disturbed immigrant criminals than ethnic Danish.

A hospital spokesman from Roskilde Hospital psychiatric department says it is quite usual in the West that so many ethnic minorities end up in psychiatric care due to trauma experienced and changing cultures.

Another downside of immigration.

"3 times as many"

Considering that, as I seem to recall, the immigrant presence in Denmark is rather low in comparison to other European countries, I wonder how this works out in the 'Nx times more likely' sense.
