Minuteman volunteers doing a good job

Sher Zieve:

The group of American volunteers, known as the “Minuteman Project”, appears to be doing its job. On Sunday, the group assisted the US Border Patrol in arresting 18 illegal aliens at the US-Mexico border town of Naco, AZ.

Despite rumors from the Mexican Government and the ACLU that violence would ensue from the Minuteman group’s efforts, Border Patrol officials said that the participants were keeping the peace.

Spokesman for the Minuteman project, Mike McGarry, said: "You observe them, report them and get out of the way." McGarry said that 200 people would patrol the 23 mile San Pedro Valley border area Monday.

There were 1.1 million illegal crossings into the United States in 2004 and it is estimated that 51% of these occurred on the Arizona-Mexico border.

Not bad for a bunch of "vigilantes", huh? I wonder what Vicente Fox's puppet in the White House is thinking right now - if he is thinking at all!
