Race and immigration in Britain

Letter:

JE Russell (Letters, 6 May) says that as the indigenous people of Britain long ago had to absorb many European races, so newer immigrants to Britain will likewise be integrated. But this ignores an important fact.

In ancient times the immigrants were conquerors and white Europeans. Although some were pagan, most were Christian, and they integrated quickly. However, this does not mean that all races do.

For example, the native peoples of North America and the aborigines of Australia have barely integrated at all with other races in their respective lands.

A good point to remember and think about.
