Shock at "racist" letter to mosque

BBC News:

South Wales Police are investigating after animal parts were left at a mosque in Cardiff, which was also the subject of a break-in.

Forensics experts are also analysing a racist letter sent to the same mosque, hoping to find out who sent it.

The mosque received the letter on Saturday, with the break-in and animal parts also left over the weekend.

It is not known if the incidents are linked. Community leaders said they were "shocked".

Shocked? Are they kidding? The only way that someone could possibly be shocked is if they had not seen a newspaper or television in the last few weeks. Let's see what might have caused someone to send this letter:

The letter followed the London bombings, which killed 55 people.

It was sent by first class post and was reportedly signed by a number of people.

The content has been described as "religious hatred against Islam".

Councillor Mohammed Islam said that the letter had caused "deep worry" among the Muslim community in Cardiff.

Muslims would be better off worrying about the lunatics in their own communities who think it is a sign of religious devotion to set off bombs that kill innocent people. It is remarkable that Muslims seem to be more upset about this letter than they are about the London bombings.

Perhaps a bit unfair. Their interest in this letter is understandable because they are only pursuing their own self-interest by focusing on perceived direct threats to their "community". Of course it is obvious, or should be, that not eliminating extremists amongst them is also a threat. But maybe not, as whites seem to be well trained: the pre-emptive PC badgering of the public -- such diatribes are now a fairly regular feature of news conferences to report the results of the investigation -- make this clear. So muslims are probably right that it seems nothing can affect their presence in Britain, or the likelihood there will be more of it.
