Nigerian immigrant causes baby's death in botched circumcision

The jury have been sent out to begin deliberations in the case of Osagie Igbinedion, the man accused of reckless endangerment in relation to the home circumcision of a boy who died in Waterford two years ago.
Closing statements were made this morning and Judge Kevin Haugh sent the jury out at 12.15pm.
Igbinedion, who is from Nigeria, is charged with recklessly engaging in conduct in and about a circumcision of Callis Osaghie in a manner which created a risk of serious harm or death to that child.
He has pleaded not guilty over the incident, which took place on 17 August 2003.
