Police charge radical Muslim organisation al-Aqsa in Denmark with raising funds for terrorism

Copenhagen Post:

Radical Muslim organisation al-Aqsa, along with two of its members, has been charged with raising funds for terrorist activities, the Ministry of Justice announced on Wednesday.

The case started in 2002, when police began investigating tips that a Danish Muslim association called al-Aqsa was sending money to suspect organisations in the Middle East, national broadcaster DR reported.

The ministry said that the investigation had revealed that two members of al-Aqsa had collected money and sent it to organisations connected with Hamas, an organisation fighting to establish an Islamic state in Palestine.

Hamas is suspected of many terrorist attacks on Israeli targets, and is listed on the European Union's list of terrorist organisations.
