City officials admit they failed to answer the cries for help of a Columbian woman who stands accused of killing her eight-year-old son in Denmark

Copenhagen Post:

The Columbian woman accused of killing her eight-year old son last week contacted the city's social services several times seeking help.

The woman, who has been in police custody since rescue workers found her lifeless child last Monday night, admitted to having beaten her child but said she was not responsible for his death.

The woman's lawyer, Lise Holten, said her client admitted to having beaten her child but refused responsibility for his death. Holten said the boy's injuries were self-inflicted and blamed the city's social services for failing to respond to the woman's repeated calls for assistance.

'My client begged the city to help her child, because he was clearly psychologically disturbed,' Holten told daily newspaper B.T. 'Since he came to Denmark in October, he has been out of control.'

The boy had lived in Columbia with the mother's grandmother for most of his life and had developed emotional problems, according to Holten.

The city had assigned a contact person to the mother, but no one from the city visited the family.

'My client felt abandoned by the city's social services and cannot understand why she did not receive help,' said Holten.

City officials admitted they failed to respond adequately.

'The warning light was blinking and steps should have been taken. We haven't done a good enough job,' said the deputy mayor for social affairs, Mikkel Warming.

Apparently, Hispanics living in Denmark like to abuse their children - and then blame their actions on government agencies - just like their cousins in the United States.
