Imams in Denmark on hidden camera

Aftenposten:

French journalists using hidden cameras have collected footage that appears to demonstrate an aggressive, threatening attitude from imams in Denmark towards moderate Muslims there.

The TV station France 2 will air a documentary Thursday evening where imam Ahmed Akkari discusses the hypothetical situation where politician Naser Khader of the Democratic Muslims becomes a cabinet member of a future government, newspaper Jyllands-Posten reports.

"If he becomes minister for foreigners or integration shouldn't one then send two men to blow him and his ministry up?" Akkari asks.

Akkari smiles during the statement, and how serious he is is not clear from the program.

Akkari, who did not know he was being filmed, told TV-Avisen that the remark was meant as a crass joke, and that he denied any connection with the statement taken seriously.

Danish police told newspaper Berlingske Tidende that they were investigating if the remark constituted the basis for a criminal prosecution.

Khader, who was reportedly shaken by the news, told Jyllands-Posten that he would not comment until he had seen the footage and heard what was said in Arabic.
