The tests were in connection with rape allegations. So far no charges have been filed, but community members have continued to express outrage.
Students at North Carolina Central University are rallying around one of their own. Students there are holding a vigil Monday night at 6 p.m. to show support for a fellow student who said she was sexually assaulted by members of the Duke lacrosse team during an off-campus party more than two weeks ago.
Police are looking for three possible rape suspects. The entire team was not at the party, but 46 lacrosse members willingly gave DNA samples to the police.
Attorneys for the players said the DNA will prove there was no rape.
Nifong said if there are charges involving the players, they will not be filed until next week.
This is beginning to look like another hate crime hoax.

DNA or not, the tale is bad for any person who is raped and reports the crime. the defenders of this great white hope team grow silent on the "kill and skin" email. have your opinion ok, whatever, could care less what you call someone, it matters when your bitter words turn to action. Maybe the pretty boys are innocent. This episode makes Duke look dense to the real world.
So far this episode makes the DA look like a political birdbrain trying to gain an advantage in his next election bid in May!

Turns my stomach to see a publicity hungry prosecutor talking about his case on a college campus. If the races were reversed, would this puppet for p.c. be sounding off on the Duke campus? I think not.

AMEN, brotha! Durham County residents - of any race, color creed or political "affliction" should be OUTRAGED at this - now - un-necessary pursuit of ju$tice (?). No hard DNA evidence makes much further investigation a waste of the taxpayers time and money.

Not really a bad jury on the O.J. case. More like a horse-sh*t Judge Ito losing control of HIS courtroom (and the proceedings) and allowing the defense to prosecute - AND CONVICT! - a witness. Admittedly, a lying witness, but Fuhrman's transgression was about a point completely un-related to the trial at-hand.
But Johnny Cochran and F. Lee Bailey were brilliant in their scathing attacks on the L.A.P.D. - in particular, Mark Fuhrman - and that steered the wheels off the track. Should have NEVER been allowed to happen as it did ...

Admittedly, Ito was a lousy judge but the jury should still have been able to see OJ for the murderer that he was.

I've been viewing this increasingly ridiculous scandal without an opinion of guilt or innocence either way, with the hope that justice will prevail eventually. However, a televised statement which the "cabbie" Moez Mostafa overheard during a conversation between Finnerty and Seligmann, the two lacrosse players whom he drove an ATM machine around 12:15am is difficult if not impossible to ignore.
"She's just a stripper. She's going to call the police."
Whether Finnerty and Seligmann were perpetrators or witnesses, it is evident that the cabbie picked up the two Duke students, after the "alleged rape" occurred. If a rape did not occur, at the very least, the two young men are aware that a crime had been committed which warranted the presence of the police. Further, it is easy to conclude that the incident - rape or otherwise – which Finnerty and Seligmann discussed in the presence of the cabbie Moez Mostafa was sufficiently disturbing that it led them to conclude that “She is going to call the police” and that despite that realization the two proceeded to ease their consciences by dismissing the complainant as being just, only, merely a stripper. Since Finnerty and Seligmann deny committing rape, their unwillingness to tell the Durham District Attorney Mike Nifrong, what they witnessed during the party is consistent with the guilt of participating in the assault because they failed to stop the assault or call the police to report that a sexual assault was in progress or that one had occurred.
The victim went to work as a stripper and it is not her fault that she was raped. What happened to her is the direct result of the fact that on the evening of March 13, 2006 she encountered a bunch of brats attending one of this country’s finest educational institutions who lack social intelligence and have not been adequately educated about the meaning of the word NO.
