Suspected gang member sought in toddler shooting in Alameda, California
KESQ:
Police are searching for a suspected gang member they say is the owner of a gun that fired and killed a man while a young child was handling it.
Authorities want to question 24-year-old Eddy "Jovani" Silva, the alleged owner of the .38-caliber pistol that discharged and killed Fernando Zepeda-Silva Monday.
Police say the suspected gang member wasn't home in his Alameda apartment when the gun went off.
A single shot from the gun killed the 22-year-old Zepeda-Silva, who had just arrived from Guatemala and was staying in the apartment.
Police believe Silva may be armed and travelling to Mexico with his girlfriend.
Authorities say Silva is facing the possibility of jail time, because state law requires gun owners to install trigger locks if their is a child in the home.
