Police have arrested murder suspect Desmond Turner for the killings of seven members of one family

WTHR:

Desmond Turner

Channel 13 Eyewitness News reported that Turner surrendered shortly before 7:00 on Saturday evening. He was accompanied by family members.

The surrender occured at an east side Hardee's restaurant. Officers arrived at the scene and placed Turner in handcuffs without incident.

Turner reportedly does take responsibility for his actions, but says there is more to the story than has been portrayed.

Turner's family stated they send out their heartfelt sympathy to the victim's families.

At the news conference police held at 8:15 Saturday night, Deputy Chief Tim Foley stated Turner turned himself in only because he had nowhere else to go, not due to remorse. Foley said the arrest is largely credited to making life as difficult as possible for anyone known to be an acquaintance of Turner via warrants, etc.

Turner requested an attorney as soon as he was charged.

Foley said that in any investigation such as this, the hard work has just begun, but he expects this to be a death penalty case.
