The security guard alleged to have killed rapper Proof has been convicted on two weapons charges related to the incident, by a jury in Detroit

BBC News:

Mario Etheridge

Mario Etheridge, 28, was found guilty of carrying a concealed weapon and unlawfully firing a gun. He faces up to nine years in prison.

Proof, of rap group D12, died in April after a dispute in a Detroit nightclub.

Authorities say Mr Etheridge shot Proof in lawful defence after the rapper fatally shot his cousin, Keith Bender.

Mr Etheridge's lawyer has said the incident was triggered by a row over a game of pool at the CCC nightclub on Detroit's Eight Mile Road.

Wayne County Assistant Prosecutor Kym Worthy said Mr Etheridge shot twice at the ceiling in an effort to stop Proof, whose real name was Deshaun Holton, before aiming the gun at him.
