A Cameroonian poet and journalist exiled in Poland was arrested and charged with deliberately infecting several women with the HIV/AIDS virus

Today Online:

A Cameroonian poet and journalist exiled in Poland was arrested and charged with deliberately infecting several women with the HIV/AIDS virus, prosecutors said.

Simon Mol, 33, is suspected of having infected at least four women who have come forward, and the investigation is continuing, said the Warsaw prosecutor's office.

Mol is known in Poland because his poems have been translated into Polish, as well as for his campaigns for human rights and in favour of refugees.

His formal name is Simon Moleke Njie.

Four women who claim they had sex with Mol and have HIV/AIDS recently reported him to the police, who have also questioned the alleged victims' doctors.

Mol, who has been a refugee in Poland since 1999, risks up to 10 years in prison, said the prosecutor's office.

This is actually bad. Now this is again a wake-up call for safe sex. With the technology and everything, we missed out on things like these. It's not a big deal anymore, not until something like this would happen.
Good for him that he is arrested. If not, we would still be counting how many women he would get infected with HIV if he wasn't.

Anyone who deliberately infects someone else with HIV deserves some punishment. At the same time arresting someone who has unprotected sex while being HIV positive is also suggesting that the other party has no responsibility in the sexual act. To combat AIDS, both parties need to be made to realise that they have a real responsibility to protect themselves.

In a sense, with each UNPROTECTED sexual encounter, both parties are effectively accepting the risk of being infected.

Sorry that you probably can't read Polish. We have a big discussion at the time being, since Simon Mol is a very prominent figure in refugee and anti-racism politics in Poland. Girls who had sex with him and came out before the police told that they wanted Mol to use a condome, but he told them that he had no diseases at all and that demanding from him "safer sex" were an expression of racial prejudice. The police, by the way, estimates the number of (white) women who he deliberately infected at abou 100.

Maybe I'm a jerk...but I think it's funny.

The Simon Mol case has indeed a "racist" side. S.M. skilfully played the "antiracist" card when convincing his sex partners to have unprotected sex with him and when threatening those who wanted to go public. The naive girls who went to bed with him rejected to insist that he uses a condome for ideological reasons, for not being labeled "racist," an epithet that is devastating in "progressive," "tolerant," etc. circles where they came from. So don't blame the Poles - they are no more racist than their neighbors. Do blame the ideologues of "political correctness."

Let me make still three remarks.
(1) Who checked the "long-standing" relations with women S.M. talks about? Their HIV- status? Fact or fiction? S.M. is a "poet" - people who, as a rule, are fantasy-prone (otherwise they aren't good). The infections of the girls he slept with - until three days ago 14 women reported to the police - are documented facts, S.M.'s too.
(2) Those girls who had unprotected sex with S.M. most probably took the pill. That would imply that at least some of them had, in addition, a steady relationship. Others will also have had sex with other men after S.M. Who else might be also infected? STDs spread by chain reaction.
(3) S.M. was the darling of leftist and "progressive" circles, not only in Poland, but also in Germany. They showered him publicly with honors for his vanguard role in human rights activities. That is the reason why his case meets so much public attention. Any individual with such a publicity record would have met the same attention, regardless of the color of his skin. Think of the Catholic priests in the U.S. who molested children. Their case attracted public attention not because Catholics are a persecuted minority there (they aren't at all), but because those priests betrayed the moral principles they stood for in public. The same holds for Simon Mol.

We are in a situation. HIV positive women claim mol to have infected them?
options
1) They may have infected Mol on the contrary.
Being positive with Mol does not mean Mol infected them. Both may have been infected and feasting in their infections.
What Medical procedure traces transmision source of the HIV virus?
I do not think there is a legal call for concern.
let his lawyer think and do not fear. dpmfcig@yahoo.com
