Britain: The grieving family of a police officer stabbed to death by an African immigrant paid tearful tribute to him
Metro:
The wife and sister of murdered Pc Jonathan Henry described him as a loving family man who joined the force because he wanted to help people.
They were speaking at an emotional news conference, as police continued to question the main suspect for yesterday's killing.
Pc Henry died after being stabbed twice in what police described as a "swift and brutal attack" in Luton town centre at 7.20am yesterday.
He had been one of the first officers on the scene after reports of a knife attack on two window cleaners.
Pc Henry, a married man with a baby daughter, was wearing a protective vest but the knife missed the vest as he tried to disarm the man.
The suspect was eventually restrained by armed police using batons and Taser guns.
Reports today suggested the suspect was an illegal immigrant whose visa expired in 2002.
But Bedfordshire Police this afternoon said he was a black African male who had leave to stay in Britain indefinitely.
