Scotland: Police have stepped up their street patrols after a 30-year-old woman was raped by a gang of African-Caribbean men

BBC News:

The victim was attacked while walking her dog in Overnewton Street, in the Yorkhill area of Glasgow, at about 0040 BST on Wednesday.

The rape may have taken as little as six minutes, according to police.

The men were described as being of Afro Caribbean appearance. Officers are studying CCTV footage and carrying out door-to-door enquiries.

One attacker was said to be in his mid-20s and more than 6ft tall, with long dreadlocks.

Police said that they did not know yet if the men were local to the area or had travelled from elsewhere.

The woman did not require hospital treatment but was "extremely traumatised" by the attack.

It is believed the woman was pushed to the ground and held down by two men while another raped her.

The victim was then raped by the two men and a fourth member of the group.

Detective Inspector John Mellon has appealed for anyone with information about the attack to contact his officers.
