Do ethnic minorities in Britain really need a "Race Minister"?

BBC news:

Ethnic minorities' votes could be critical in more than 70 seats at the election, says campaign group Operation Black Vote (OBV).

OBV researchers examined how many ethnic minority adults needed to vote to potentially change the result in their constituency.

The study is part of a "black manifesto" being unveiled by a coalition of ethnic minority groups.

Its key demand is for a "Race Minister" to implement equality strategies.

The BBC on SW is also a veritable font of nonsense of this sort, if you have the patience to listen regularly (which I confess I don't anymore).

Recently, I heard from them that France is likely going to raise the legal age for marriage from 15 to 18. Why? In an attempt to combat forced marriage, "especially in immigrant communities". Get that? The reporter said "especially", when really ENTIRELY would've been more accurate and appropriate.

Later the same day, I heard the French were planning to make all children learn and sing the national anthem in school. Hmm, I thought, why? Well, it turns out some French were unnerved a while ago by the anti-French behavior of most of the fans when France played a soccer match against Algeria in Paris. It seems many of the "French" fans were noticably inhospitable to the French team. I know they were "French" because the BBC told me so, assuring me that even though their parents may have been born in North Africa, these misbehaving fans were "French".

Finally, last year I heard a BBC report about nationalism in Russia, where some Russians have the nerve to say "Russia for the Russians" (in Russian, I suppose), which the reporter contemptuously dismissed by adding "whatever that means".
