A new French poll suggests voters will reject EU constitution

BBC News:

Although President Jacques Chirac has been pushing for a Yes vote, the poll indicates that 55% of those who have made up their minds plan to vote No.

France's centre-right government is attempting to convince 28% of voters who remain undecided to vote Yes.

Rejection by France would scupper the constitution, which needs to be ratified by all EU member states.

The results of the latest poll, compiled for France's Le Monde newspaper, RTL radio and LCI television, mirrored a survey earlier this week carried out for Le Figaro and TV channel Europe 1.
