Mexican illegal immigrant implicates co-defendants in gang rape

Bob Gardinier:

One of three undocumented immigrants charged with the gang rape of a woman last year behind a downtown bar pleaded guilty to first-degree sex abuse this morning and agreed to testify against the other two.

With the help of an interpreter, Ausel Ovideo Gonzalez, 28, a citizen of Mexico, admitted before Judge Patrick McGrath that he inappropriately touched a 24-year-old Russell Sage College student while she was being restrained in a gangway off the Church Street alley behind The Ruck bar at about 3 a.m. Oct. 30.

"Who else was with you at the time?" asked Assistant District Attorney Jennifer Shatz.

"Heder and Wisner," Gonzalez said.

"What are their last names?" Shatz asked.

"Roblero," Gonzalez said, identifying his co-defendants, Heder Roblero, 24, and Wisner Roblero, 23, both also citizens of Mexico.

All three were originally charged with rape, unlawful imprisonment and sexual assault, charges that could get them up to 15 years in prison.

For his plea, Gonzalez will be sentenced to 5 years in state prison and will be deported after his sentence is served. He also must testify against the other men.

It won't truly have success, I consider this way.
