Illegal immigrant hid heroin and cocaine under tongue

Trinity Mirror:

AN ILLEGAL immigrant who began foaming at the mouth when police found cannabis in his pocket was stopped from swallowing a deadly packet of hard drugs hidden under his tongue.

Officers had to prise open 21-year-old Kevin Hays' mouth with a pen to find the 10 wraps of crack cocaine and heroin in his mouth.

The Jamaican-born 21-year-old was originally held on suspicion of being in the country illegally when police stopped him in Reading's Elgar Road, a notorious drug dealing blackspot, on July 28.

Detectives later discovered a small quantity of cannabis in his right trouser pocket after searching him at Reading police station.

But the officers spotted Hays was foaming at the mouth, his tongue was very white and he was making repeated swallowing motions, and when asked to open his mouth he kept trying to swallow.

An officer eventually got his mouth open with the pen and made him spit out six packets containing crack and another four full of heroin.

Hays admitted possessing crack cocaine and heroin when he first appeared at Reading Crown Court in December, while denying intent to supply them, and last Friday he was jailed for four years and told he would be deported to Jamaica on his release.
