A man arrested at Heathrow Airport is the suspect wanted in connection with the shooting of a British policewoman in Nottingham

Pc Rachael Bown, 23, was attacked as she attempted to stop a man near the scene of a break-in in Lenton shortly before midnight on Monday.

The probationary officer was shot in the abdomen below her body armour.

Police arrested Trevon Kyron Thomas, 24, from Bilborough in Nottingham, at Heathrow Airport at 1100 GMT.

A Nottinghamshire Police spokeswoman said: "This morning the Metropolitan Police arrested a 24-year-old man in connection with the shooting of Pc Rachael Bown.

"He was arrested at Heathrow Airport. He is the man Nottinghamshire detectives have been keen to trace and whose details were issued to the public earlier today.

"Those details have previously been circulated to all police forces and law enforcement agencies across the country."

Mr Thomas will be taken to Nottinghamshire where he will interviewed by detectives.
