A pro-immigration demonstration led to fights between black and Hispanic students at one Los Angeles high school

Chantal Mason from George Washington Preparatory High, said black students attacked Hispanic students as they left classes to protest over a Bill passed by the house in December that would make it a felony to be in the US illegally.

"It was horrible, horrible. It's ridiculous that a bunch of black students would jump on Latinos like that, knowing they're trying to get their freedom," she said.

What "freedom" were the Latinos trying to get? The freedom to break the laws of the United States?
