Police are hunting for a multiracial gang of four women in a fatal attack on a man outside a Toronto bingo hall
Pam Douglas:
Yousif Youkhana, 58, left Country Bingo on Finch Avenue West with $1,000 in his pocket after winning a jackpot. Toronto police say he never made it to his vehicle. He was confronted by four women who demanded is winnings. He refused, and was punched and kicked repeatedly. He was able to break free and run back inside the bingo hall, but he collapsed and died a short time later. Police say he had a heart condition and it is not known what role that played in his death. An autopsy was inconclusive, but the coroner is still investigating.
There was no answer at the victim's Tindale Road semi-detached home yesterday, in the area of Kennedy Road and Vodden Street East.
Witnesses have told police the four women were regulars at the north end bingo hall.
Toronto Det. Steve Ryan said it is only a matter of time before they close in on the suspects.
"I say that because we have had upwards of 20 people say they are regulars (at Country Bingo). They're known," he said. "It's just a matter of time before we identify them."
He said, so far, no one has been able to provide police with the names of the suspects, but he hopes that will happen soon. Meanwhile, homicide investigators yesterday were reviewing security tapes from cameras trained on the bingo hall parking lot.
The $1,000 has not been recovered.
Youkhana, a long-time Brampton resident, had been playing bingo at the Toronto bingo hall for many years, according to Ryan.
He has a family in Brampton, at least one son who police have been in touch with.
The first suspect is described as black, 5-foot-7, 250 pounds, with short black hair in a brush cut. The second is white, 5-foot, 150 pounds, with straight, black hair worn in a ponytail. The third suspect is black, 150 pounds, wearing a black baseball cap with her hair pulled out the back of the hat. The fourth suspect is only described as black.
