Kuwait has publicly hanged five men convicted of various crimes including rape, murder and drug smuggling

It said the men, three Kuwaitis, an Indian and a Pakistani, were the largest number of people put to death in a single day since 1991.

The Muslim country imposes the death penalty, usually by hanging, for murder, drug smuggling, rape and crimes against the state.
