Belfast Telegraph:
26-year-old Emmanuel Ashibougwu, with an address at The Square, Annacotty in Limerick is currently serving a seven year sentence for possession of heroin.
He pleaded not guilty to raping the 21-year-old woman in a car park in the Punches Cross area in December of 2004, but was found guilty in November, and today sentenced to nine years behind bars.
On the night in question the woman left an apartment in the city after having a row with her boyfriend when she met Emmanuel Ashibougwu.
She claimed he followed her home and on the way dragged her into a car-park and raped her.
He admitted they had sex but said it was consensual.
Mr. Justice Paul Carney directed that Emmanuel Ashibougwu be registered as a sex offender and instructed he undergoes five years post-release supervision.
