Associated Press:

Michael Jermaine Burch

A 21-year-old man was charged Monday with second-degree rape for an alleged attack on a Duke University freshman at an off-campus party.

Police arrested Michael Jermaine Burch of Durham and charged him with assaulting an 18-year-old woman who said she was raped in the bathroom of a house near the Duke campus.

Police were called at 3 a.m. on Feb. 11 to the house, where members of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc. had organized a party that began Feb. 10. One fraternity member lives at the house.

About 50 people attended the party, police said.
