Rap star The Game has been charged with making a criminal threat and possessing a firearm in a school zone
The charges relate to an alleged fight that the 27-year-old was involved in at a basketball game in Los Angeles back in February.
Police said he pulled a gun from his red Cadillac Escalade after punching a player on the opposing team and threatening to shoot him.
The rapper, whose real name is Jayceon Taylor, is due in court on Tuesday.
He was arrested last month at his Glendale home and later freed after police bail was set at $50,000 (£25,000).
If convicted the star faces more than five years in prison.
The star's lawyer, Shawn Chapman Holley, was not available for comment.
Championed by rapper 50 Cent, the pair publicly fell out when 50 - real name Curtis Jackson - accused him of being disloyal to him.
Taylor has had several hits such as Hate It or Love It and How We Do.
