Of course, Pod the Second is completely confused about the issue, which is illegal immigrant's children, not the offspring of his ancestors, who were legal immigrants, but his making this error just shows how much of neocon thinking, if you can call it "thinking," is based on ethnic touchiness and resentment of slights toward ancestors, feelings that just seems to grow, perversely, in strength with the passing of the decades.

I believe that the US and Canada are the only developed countries still dumb enough to give birthright citizenship to the children of illegal aliens.It may have been relatively harmless for the US to have this policy in 1900 when travel was difficult and/or expensive and the populations of both the world and the US were each one-fourth of what they are today.
