Woman charged with child's murder through drowning

Authorities say a two-year-old girl was found, floating face down in a bathtub after an alleged fall. A 911 call brought police to a home on Rockwood Lane Friday night.

The child was airlifted to Dallas Children's Hospital, where she died. Yesterday, the female relative who was caring for the child, Shondreta Thomas, 31, was arrested on a warrant for injury to a child. Thomas is now charged with murder.

Police say injuries to the child were inconsistent with drowning or falling. The child was in the custody of her great uncle and his wife Shondreta Thomas. Police say Thomas called her husband before calling 911. Authorities are investigating whether the couple knew of injuries to the child. Thomas' bond was set at $100,000. The little girl's name has not been released, and an autopsy has been ordered.
