Members of an Orleans Parish grand jury have indicted a 44-year-old mother and her 16-year-old son in connection with a slaying in Central City

Vanessa Johnson is accused of giving a gun to her son, Clarence, so he could get revenge against another teen, Robert Dawson, who beat him in a fight on Feb. 7.

Both mother and son were indicted Monday on one count each of second-degree murder.

If convicted, they face mandatory life in prison.
